Transcription

How accurate is the transcription?

Accuracy depends on several factors:

  • Audio quality: Clear speech > noisy environment
  • Model size: large > medium > small > base
  • Language: English has highest accuracy, Chinese ~90-95%
  • Speaker count: Single speaker > multiple speakers

Recommendation: Use medium or large model, enable stable timestamps.

Which languages are supported?

Whisper supports 99 languages, including:

  • Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), English, Japanese, Korean
  • French, German, Spanish, Portuguese
  • Russian, Arabic, Hindi, and more

Specifying language in transcription options improves accuracy.

What’s the max audio length?

Theoretically unlimited, but we recommend:

  • Single file under 4 hours (memory considerations)
  • Split very long files for batch processing

AI

Do AI features require internet?

  • Local Ollama: No internet needed, fully local
  • Cloud API: Internet required, but only transcript text is sent

Why is the AI summary sometimes inaccurate?

AI summaries are based on transcript text. If the transcription has errors (misrecognized words), the summary will be affected. Check transcription quality first, or use the large model for better accuracy.

What’s the difference between Free and Pro?

All features are available in the Free tier. The only difference is the daily transcription limit: 8 transcriptions per day on Free, unlimited on Pro.

OnceScribe Pro is a digital product and is non-refundable. Please try the Free tier before purchasing. See Refund Policy.

Technical

No sound when recording system audio on macOS?

You need to authorize OnceScribe in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording. This is a macOS system limitation.

Windows shows “unsafe” warning during install?

Since the app is not distributed through Microsoft Store, Windows SmartScreen may block it. Click “More info” → “Run anyway”.

How to update models?

Go to Settings → Model to check current version and click “Check for Updates” to download the latest.
