Overview
OnceScribe is an offline audio & video transcription app. Our core principle: your data belongs to you and never leaves your device.
Data Collection
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Audio files: Any audio/video you upload or record
- Transcript text: Any content from transcription results
- AI conversations: Any chat with the AI assistant
- Personal identity info: Name, email, phone, etc.
Minimal Data We Collect
- Anonymous analytics: Optional Aptabase anonymous usage stats (can be disabled)
- Crash reports: Technical logs on app crashes (no user content)
- Activation info: Machine ID and activation status for Pro licenses
Data Processing
Local Processing
All transcription happens locally:
- Whisper models run locally
- Audio decoding by local ffmpeg
- Transcription results saved to your chosen directory
AI Features
For AI summary, chat, etc.:
- Local Ollama: Fully local, data never leaves device
- Cloud API: Only transcript text is sent to your chosen LLM provider (Claude, DeepSeek, etc.); OnceScribe does not store or relay
Data Storage
- Transcripts: Saved in your specified local directory
- Preferences: Saved in app local storage
- Pro license: Saved in app config file
